About the show...

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the theatre. The cradle of dreams. The place where magic comes to life!

Imagine a show where all our performers are people who were on a bus destined for a different location, our costumes are missing and the setlist has been scrambled in a computer crash. Oh well! The show must go on!

All tradition is out the window as performers we don’t expect perform songs that they don’t expect wearing whatever we can find and props that have been manifested on the fly.

The illusion is the show is being built in front of the audience by an actor playing the “Stage Manager” and an actor playing the “Director.”

Much of what happens is hilarious, all is unexpected and some is just profound.

Welcome to MISCAST.

What to prepare for your audition.

AUDITION DATES: JUNE 12th & 13th with callbacks on the morning of the 14th

Adults:

Please be prepared to read from supplied sides for the Stage Manager and Director Parts- these will be available to download from our booking platform.

Everyone:

Please note: Miscast is looking for performers who are 10 or older, including those who turn 10 in 2026 .

Since MISCAST is a collection of showtunes performed in unexpected ways by an unusual cast, we kindly ask that you prepare a showtune of your choice which you would not typically be casted to sing.

Think: What if “Let it go” were sung by a gruff Baritone? Or “Grease Lightning” performed by a little girl…or what if this love song was actually about a sandwich??

We want to hear songs that excite you, and most importantly we want you to make bold choices and embrace the fun!

WHAT COULD BE MORE EXCITING THAN THAT YOU ASK?

Good question! What about the chance for your audition song to join the show? If we see a performance that fits in with the story being woven in MISCAST, it could end up in the show!

CALLBACKS

Some call backs will be needed which may include singing for specific parts, dance or additional sides. Those who are needed for call backs will be notified during their audition, and call backs will be held the morning of Sunday June 14th.

About the show...

Performing October, 2025 | Auditions January 11th, 2025

Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical is the captivating masterpiece from the Royal Shakespeare Company that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. With book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, Matilda has won 47 international awards and continues to thrill sold-out audiences of all ages around the world.

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda’s extraordinary personality. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!

Packed with high-energy dance numbers, catchy songs and an unforgettable star turn for a young actress, Matilda is a joyous girl power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.
